John Reid Bio

John Reid is an acoustic engineer with 30 years’ experience enhancing the acoustic ambience of public buildings, such as modern churches and music halls. He “retired” in 1999 in order to focus on acoustic research in the field of Cymatics, and to develop the CymaScope, a device enabling one to see the actual resonance patterns of different sound frequencies. In 2001, he was granted access to the King's Chamber in the Great Pyramid to perform detailed Cymatics research. Stretching a membrane over the sarcophagus, he applied specific frequencies to this 4-ton granite box, and for the first time in history, was able to observe it’s harmonic structure. An account of the implications of his extraordinary findings is detailed in the booklet, EGYPTIAN SONICS.
